I am totally aware of the fact that Youtube trailer reactions are a dime a dozen so what I’ve decided to do is, first off, not limit the channel to trailer reactions, which many talentless Youtube hacks do, and secondly, the ones that I do create, are going to strictly be for independent or indie films i.e. the films I typically watch and enjoy that most people are not too familiar with.
But I knew that for my first trailer reaction, it had to be special. I had to pick a film that not only was special but had to also mean something to me, on a personal level so I chose A Death In The Gunj. There are three people in the film who’ve made a great impact on me – Konkona Sen Sharma who re-ignited my love for Hindi cinema back when I was in college in Fargo (a cultural desert) with Amu, Jim Sarbh who is the first Bollywood personality I’ve interviewed and Kalki Koechlin, the first person I’ve ever had a conversation with on Twitter. True story.
The film itself looks phenomenal, it screened for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival and garnered great reviews shortly afterwards.
I can’t wait to see it.
Here is the trailer reaction.
A massive thank you to Baltimore indie rock band, Dear Tracks, for granting me permission to use their beautifully atmospheric songs.
